I’ll start this by saying I can’t believe I’m blogging about facebook. What a modern man I am indeed.
So Facebook has unduly locked us out of our Wakey!Wakey! fan page. This means we suddenly and without warning are cut off from over 10 thousand fans. The worst part is it doesn’t say anywhere on the page that the administrators are locked out. It just looks like we stopped posting and replying to fans. If anyone reading this works or has a friend at Facebook and can help us resolve this, please spread the word. In the meantime, head over to WakeyWakeyMusic.com for updates such as our recently announced November tour updates, our CMJ showcase at Bowery Ballroom and links to things that do work, like out twitter account.
And to the good people at Facebook- I saw Catfish last night. I know what you’re up to… That being said, our Pigrat Forever page is doing just fine.
Much love,
M

I wish someone had sent me this before college:
From the NY Times OP-ED last week. Click the link for the whole article.
An excerpt-
“College is your chance to see what you’ve been missing, both in the outside world and within yourself. Use this time to explore as much as you can.
Take classes in many different subjects before picking your major. Try lots of different clubs and activities. Make friends with people who grew up much poorer than you, and others much richer. Date someone of a different race or religion. (And no, hooking up at a party doesn’t count.) Spend a semester abroad or save up and go backpacking in Europe or Asia.
Somewhere in your childhood is a gaping hole. Fill this hole. Don’t know what classical music is all about? That’s bad. Don’t know who Lady Gaga is? That’s worse. If you were raised in a protected cocoon, this is the time to experience the world beyond.
College is also a chance to learn new things about yourself. Never been much of a leader? Try forming a club or a band.
The best things I did in college all involved explorations like this. I was originally a theater major but by branching out and taking a math class I discovered I actually liked math, and I enjoyed hanging out with technical people.
By dabbling in leadership — I ran the math club and directed a musical — I learned how to formulate a vision and persuade people to join me in bringing it to life. Now I’m planning to become an entrepreneur after graduate school. It may seem crazy, but it was running a dinky club that set me on the path to seeing myself as someone who could run a business.
Try lots of things in college. You never know what’s going to stick.”

This is the kind of sore throat medicine I can get into.

Having a cold gives you a literal doctors note to waste time. I’ve been doing this today by watching some TV (which I do sparingly even when I’m not sick). It’s been very helpful at taking my mind off of this searing throat pain. I just saw an add for the “new” horror film Let Me In, and immediately recognized it as a remake of the Swedish film Let The Right One In. Why would they remake that film? How are they gonna make it better? I mean, I’ll go see it, but now I have to be the annoying know-it-all guy who cloyingly references the Swedish original the whole time, and that’s no fun! Maybe if I can convince everyone of legal age that reads this (and enjoys creepy vampires) to go see the original first, then I’ll systematically reduce my annoyingness by making more people annoying… Hmm… Or I could just rent it and release my fury on the cool guy at my video rental spot that loves nerding out on that stuff. Life is full of complicated decisions.
Important notice- If this makes no sense, I blame the painkillers. Thanks, oxycodone!

Finally someone recognizes my worth. It ain’t easy getting up the ladder in this music game, but the pay off, yo. The pay off is grand.
